I’ve had such a rough time in my personal life for the last several months. Without giving away the details, I’ll simply tell you that it concerns my daughter and an ongoing battle with my ex. I can’t quite explain how badly this situation has affected me and how broken my heart is, but one thing is for sure…God is going through it with me.
When it comes to our children, we tend to defend them at all costs, even when they need to learn the lesson that God is trying to teach them. I will confess that I’ve always been an enabler and have always tried to shield my kids from any repercussions that their actions might have caused them. I have learned that this just teaches them that they’ll always get bailed out of punishment and this is not beneficial to their well-being.
Ever since the beginning of this season I’ve been fervently in prayer and have asked my Father to reveal His lesson to me. (I know He’s going to teach me something and it will be revealed in His time). In the meantime, I’m praying for wisdom, discernment, and strength.
“Strengthen the weak hands and make firm the feeble knees.” There is a very deep spiritual battle going on within me and I need to rely on God’s strength to get me through to the end. These weak hands aren’t capable of lifting up the heavy baggage until God uses His strength to move me. These feeble knees aren’t willing to carry me through on their own, so God is holding me up. He’s bound Himself to me so that my strength becomes His strength. He is so good to me!
“He will come and save you.” This is my favorite sentence in this whole verse. It means that the enemy won’t win, no matter what. When we’re going forth in battle, there is One who is bigger and mightier who goes before us. He’s our protector and the strength of our body and soul. He wins. He overcomes sin, death, and the devil, making us overcomers as well.
Today I sit here and think about how blessed I am, even though my heart aches for what I once had. There is now strength in my hands and in my knees. I will kneel myself down and fold my hands in prayer where I’ll continue to fight the battle that is raging on in front of me.
Friend, we all struggle at one point or another and I want you to know that you’re loved beyond measure. Jesus died for you. You overcome because of Him. I’m praying for you.

I pray the Lord will strengthen you as you go through this season. Here are some verses I clung to as I went through a very traumatic time with my daughter:
“There is no one holy like the LORD; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.” – 1 Samuel 2:2 (NIV)
“For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.” – 2 Timothy 1:7 (NASB)
In my distress I called upon the LORD,
Yes, I cried to my God; And from His temple He heard my voice, And my cry for help came into His ears. – 2 Samuel 22:7
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. – Romans 8:26 (NIV)
Thank you so much for your comment and the beautiful reminders. God’s grace is boundless and everyday His mercies for me are new. I’m very blessed, even when it’s difficult for me to see.
